The Jamaco River Run is a 501(c)(3) charity event that raises much-needed money for youth sports. It is 100% volunteer-based, meaning every penny of the proceeds goes directly to youth sports organizations. In addition, the race donates 15% of all proceeds back to its host town - beautiful Merrimac.
The name Jamaco pays homage to the the race's host, Merrimac, MA, and the town's history. From the 1600's into at least the early 1700's, the town of Merrimac was part of Amesbury and at the time was called Jamaco. We think it has a nice ring.
